A product of the 1990s golf boom in Thailand
Uniland Golf & Resort, located in the Nakhon Pathom region of Bangkok, Thailand, offers a distinctive golfing experience amid lush vegetation, serene streams, and a picturesque setting. Designed by O-Art Architects Ltd and opened in late 1996, this 27-hole golf course has become a prominent attraction for both golf enthusiasts and tourists exploring the region’s cultural and natural sites, such as Sanam Chandra Palace, Buddha Monthon, and the Lamphaya Floating Market.
The course layout is mostly flat with gentle mounding, surrounded by paddy fields that enhance its scenic beauty. Despite occasional untidiness in fairways, tees, and roughs, the greens are consistently well-maintained, known for their smooth and fast surfaces. The speed and quality of the greens are a major selling point, described by the club as being “as smooth as glass.”
The golf course is divided into three distinct nine-hole courses, known as Course A, Course B, and Course C. Each course provides a unique challenge, catering to various skill levels and preferences.
Course A features well-maintained fairways lined with various sizes of trees and numerous water hazards. The standout hole is the par-4 seventh, which is 336 yards long and involves a 180-yard carry over a lake followed by a blind shot to the green. This hole tests precision and nerve, as the green remains out of sight despite the flag being visible.
Course B is characterized by its abundant water hazards and numerous doglegs, offering a rigorous test of strategy and skill. The par-5 eighth hole, stretching 641 yards, is one of the longest in Thailand and is considered the signature hole of Uniland Golf and Country Club. This lengthy hole demands careful shot planning and execution to navigate successfully.
Course C presents more varied terrain with slight elevation changes, trees, and strategically placed bunkers. The undulating greens add to the challenge, requiring precise approach shots to avoid rolling off. The par-4 third hole is particularly demanding, with water and bunkers flanking the fairway and a raised green that necessitates accuracy and control.
The clubhouse at Uniland Golf & Resort is both spacious and modern, with facilities capable of accommodating over 400 guests. The modern locker rooms and well-designed amenities provide a comfortable experience for visitors. Despite the ample space, it is recommended to book in advance to ensure availability. The on-site resort offers accommodation options, making it convenient for golfers who wish to extend their stay and fully immerse themselves in the tranquil environment.
Located within a 45-minute drive from Bangkok, Uniland Golf & Resort is an ideal escape from the bustling city. Golfers can enjoy a full day of golfing on the 27 holes and relax in the clubhouse before heading back to Bangkok or moving on to other destinations such as Kanchanaburi or Hua Hin. The peaceful and fresh surroundings of Uniland Golf & Resort provide a welcome break from the hustle and bustle of Bangkok, making it a desirable destination for both day-trippers and overnight guests.
